Choose a Dental Plan to Fit Your Needs
Choose an Employee Dental Plan to Fit Your Needs: Indemnity / Managed
Care Plans, Providers, Out-of-Pocket Costs, Bills Paid
Dental insurance plans generally fall into one of two categories of dental insurance: Indemnity and Managed Care. The major differences between them include:
- Choice of providers
- Out-of-pocket costs for covered services
- How bills are paid
Indemnity plans allow members to select their own dentist, paying
for all services after a required co-payment.
While indemnity plans offer more choice of dentists,
managed care plans make agreements with specific dentists to provide services to plan members at a reduced cost.
Generally, managed care plans require less paperwork and lower out-of-pocket costs
than an indemnity plan.
